Another young turner is Thierry Martenon. Working from Grenoble in the Alps, Martenon combines a native sense of form and style with astonishing technical skill. His works are simply among the best produced in France today. "Three Vessels" is a wonderfully simple work and proves the rule that simple is often better, while his untitled vessel in pearwood combine the joinery he was trained in with the same style of simple form - an intriguing juxtaposition of precision and flowing lines.

Christian Delhon denies he is creative. "I don't have any ideas" he says, and then produces a piece like "Turner's Virus," which combines the technical challenges of traditional ornamental turning with a witty statement on the obsession he shares with many others. Only when you see the piece in its full size of over one meter do you realize what a formidable achievement it is.
Delhon draws on traditional trade turning skills to create ideas that stand proud among the new work. No ideas indeed !
