Laurent Guillot is another young artist of talent who contributed the most remarkable piece to the exhibition at the Journées Mondiales in 2000. This piece, "Grandes Orgues," is both simple and complex. It is made from wet-turned cylinders of ash which have beautifully deformed to give an organic feel to the flowing assemblage.
Also working since the watershed year of 1995, Guillot is one of the French artists to watch.

Marc Ricourt is one of the most recent arrivals on the scene, turning only since 1998, although he is trained as an artist. Wood is a passion for him, but he loves to paint and texture it to produce unexpected results. His "Box" is a fine example of how to challenge tradition and yet produce a piece which feels like it belongs to a very old tradition indeed. With echoes of ceramics, or African containers, it is a piece which will sit well in any collection. Ricourt was an ITE resident in 2001.
